SAS

The special forces unit of British Army is the Special Air Service. In 1941 SAS  was found as a regiment, and in 1950 it was recognized as a corps.The unit performs number of activities including direct action,hostage rescue and counter - terrorism.   
The corps composed of 22 special Air Service Regiment,the regular component under the operational command of United Kingdom  Special Forces .
The Special Air Service slots its base in 1941 and the second world war.In 1947 it was amended as a part of the Territorial Army,named the 21st Special Air Service Regiment.The 22nd Special Air Service Regiment, which is now a part of regular army, capture  esteem and acceptance around the world after its televised performance of all but one of the Victim held during the 1980 Iranian Embassy .
It was appreciate as a commando force to act behind enemy lines in the North African Campaign and at the beginning  dwell of 5 officers and 60 other ranks.In November 1941, parachute drop in support of the Operation Crusader offensive is its first mission.Due to German resistance and adverse weather conditions, the mission was blight;22 men ,a third of the unit were killed or captured. The second mission was  successful.It was renamed as 1st SAS in September 1942,consisting at that time of 4 British squadrons,one   Free French ,  one Greek and the Folboat Section.
There is  never recruit directly from the general public in United Kingdom Special Forces.All customary members of the UK Armed Forces can apply for  special forces selection. The hill phase is the jungle phase that takes place in Belize,Brunei or Malaysia.Navigation, patrol formation/movement and jungle survivals skills.Candidates returned to Hereford finish training in battle plans and foreign weapons and take part in combat survival exercise, the final one being the week long escape and evasion.Candidates are arrange into patrols and , carrying nothing more than a tin can filled with survival equipment are dressed in old Second World  War  uniforms and told to head for a point by first light.The final selection test is arguably the most brutal - resistance to interrogation(RTI) , lasting for 36 hours.  
15-20% of candidates make it through the hill phase selection process. Almost 200 candidates, most will quit within first few days,and by the end around 30 will remain. Candidates who has completed all phases of selection are rewarded with a transfer to an operational squadron.0
